John Wesley Hartlein

After receiving a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University in 1973, John worked for the design firm of Myrick-Newman-Dahlberg in Dallas, Texas. While in Texas, John obtained his state registration as a Registered Landscape Architect. Since 1979, John has been a principal in several construction companies including Allen Corporation, J W Hartlein Construction Co. and Inverness Construction Company.

In the past 40 years, John has constructed over $500MM in commercial and multifamily projects in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee. These projects include among many, Mainsail and Waterview Towers condominiums in Destin, Florida, the Kroger centers in Madison and Richland, Mississippi, the Eudora Welty Administration building at MUW, Columbus, Mississippi, SAE Fraternity House, MSU, Grenada County Jail, Grenada, MS.

In 1990, John developed the Comfort Inn in Indianola, Mississippi and later the Comfort Suites Hotel in Starkville, Mississippi. Additionally, he served as managing member of Vintner’s Crossing, a 40 acre residential development located in Rankin County, Mississippi and Maison de Ville, a 24 lot upscale garden home development in Starkville.

In 2000, John was hired by Royal American Development, Inc. and served as the lead developer for the master planning and construction of the Boardwalk Beach Resort located on 1700 front feet of Gulf front property in Panama City Beach, Florida. John continued to work on various Gulf front developments in the Florida panhandle including Bay Island Condo in Ft. Walton Beach and Paradise Island Condo in Perdido Key, Florida through 2007.

John has lived in the City of Jackson for the past 25 years and serves as Board Member of Waterford Place, a gated residential community in NE Jackson. He has held a registered Landscape Architect License in Mississippi, as well as a Registered Building Contractor and licensed REALTOR in the state of Florida. Currently John holds a General Contractor Builder’s license in Mississippi.

Most recently, John completed the Whitney Luxury apartments in the Cotton District in Starkville and is under construction on Sundance Condominiums on south Montgomery in Starkville.
